Quick Start: Turn Help Docs into a Video

Turn your help docs into your first video in FoxCue: add your business, write or record a script, then review and export. A step-by-step quick start.

To turn your help docs into your first video in FoxCue, open Getting Started and complete three steps: add your business, give FoxCue something to work with (a script, an upload or a recording), then review and export. The page tracks your progress as N of 3 complete and shows the next action in an Up next card.

Getting Started is the first item in the sidebar, under Start. New workspaces land there after sign-up.

Before you start

  • A FoxCue account and workspace. See Create your account.
  • Optional: your website URL or docs URL, so scripts can cite your own pages.
  • Optional: a camera and microphone, if you want to record yourself.

Add your business (optional)

Under Add your business, choose one:

  1. Add Website: enter your site URL and FoxCue builds a draft brand from it. See Build a brand from your website.
  2. I Don't Have a Website: create a brand by hand with a name and description.

Then add more context if you want: Add documents or more context · optional lets you add a document or notes, or connect Website & Documentation. Click Review Business Context to check what FoxCue learned, or Add Another Brand.

You can skip this step, but scripts are much better when FoxCue knows your product.

Give us something to work with

Under Give us something to work with, choose how the video starts:

Review and export

Open Video Projects to review the edit, then export. This step only counts as complete when an export is saved. A finished video appears under Finished Videos in Outputs.

If you have more than one brand, choose which one new work belongs to with Brand for New Content at the top of the page.

What you'll see

The Up next card picks up where you left off. Depending on where you are, it offers Continue My Video, Record This Script, Open Script, Edit This Recording, Review & Publish or Download Video.

Troubleshooting

  • Step 3 isn't ticking. Finishing a render isn't enough on its own. Export and save the video, then check Outputs → Finished Videos.
  • The website import found little. Pages that load all their content with JavaScript may import poorly. Add your docs or sitemap as a source instead.
  • Record Without a Script won't start. Allow camera and microphone access in your browser. See Troubleshooting.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn help docs into a YouTube video with FoxCue?

Add your docs as a source, write a script from the doc with Help Me Create, record it with the teleprompter or narrate it, then export the finished video and upload it to YouTube yourself. FoxCue doesn't publish to YouTube for you.

Do I have to add a website first?

No. Step 1 is optional. You can start with a script, an upload or a recording.

How long does the first video take?

It depends on the route you take. Tools such as Cut a video plan in about a minute (longer the first time a video is transcribed), and renders run in the background while you keep working. Script generation shows its progress as it runs.
