Connect YouTube to Track Video Performance

Connect your YouTube channel to FoxCue with a Google account or an API key, import your videos, and see views, likes, comments and YouTube Analytics reports.

Connecting YouTube lets FoxCue import your channel's videos and their results, so you can see which videos work and link them to your brands, silos and scripts. Open Measure → Integrations, then Connect YouTube. FoxCue only reads your channel. It doesn't upload, edit or delete YouTube videos.

Choose a connection method

MethodWhat you getWhat you need
Google AccountPublic and private videos, plus YouTube Analytics reports: watch time, traffic sources, search terms, retentionA workspace owner who can authorize the channel, and Google sign-in enabled on your FoxCue server
API Key · Public VideosPublic videos with lifetime views, likes and commentsA YouTube Data API v3 key and your channel ID, @handle or channel URL

You can start with an API key and upgrade the same connection to a Google account later. A Google account connection can't be switched back to an API key.

Connect with an API key

  1. In Connect YouTube, choose API Key · Public Videos.
  2. Enter the YouTube Channel (channel ID, @handle or channel URL).
  3. Paste a YouTube API Key. To get one, open Google Cloud Credentials, enable YouTube Data API v3 in the API Library, and create an API key. FoxCue stores it securely and never shows it again.
  4. Click Connect Public Videos.

See your results

Open Measure → Performance and choose a Brand and Channel.

  • Overview: imported video count, lifetime views, likes and comments, most-viewed videos, 12 weeks of publishing activity, duration groups, recent releases, rankings, and how many videos are linked to your content. It also shows the last refresh and next scheduled refresh.
  • Published Videos: every imported video. Open one for its detail page and reports.
  • Reports (Google account only): pick a period of up to 367 days and click Load Report. Retention needs a single video. Search terms show what YouTube reported for search traffic. They aren't a full keyword list.

YouTube reports use Pacific time days. Missing values show as —, never as zero.

Keep data up to date

  • FoxCue refreshes connected channels once a day while your server is running.
  • Click Refresh Data to sync now. Your saved results stay visible while it refreshes.
  • Disconnecting removes imported YouTube data. Your scripts, topics and outputs stay.

Frequently asked questions

Can FoxCue publish videos to my YouTube channel?

No. FoxCue reads your channel's videos and reports. Upload videos in YouTube Studio, then add the link in your silo.

Why don't I see watch time?

Watch time, traffic sources, search terms and retention need a Google Account connection. API key connections only import public counts.
