Connect Help Docs or a Sitemap as a Source
Connect your help docs, website or sitemap to FoxCue so scripts cite your knowledge base. FoxCue imports public pages, saves revisions and re-syncs on demand.
To use your help docs in FoxCue videos, connect them as a source. Open Knowledge → Sources, click Add Source, and choose Website crawl, Sitemap or Documentation. FoxCue imports the public pages, saves each one as a revisioned source, and keeps them updated on the schedule you choose.
Scripts then cite exact passages from these pages.
Source types
When you click Add Source, choose what to import:
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Website crawl | Import pages from a website |
| Sitemap | Discover pages from a sitemap (great for a blog) |
| Documentation | Connect a help center or docs site |
| URLs | Import a selected list of pages |
| File | Import a text or Markdown file. See Add documents and notes. |
| Text | Save notes or paste source material |
Connect a website, sitemap or docs site
Open Add Source
Go to Knowledge → Sources and click Add Source. Choose Website crawl, Sitemap or Documentation.
Choose the brand
Pick the Brand this source belongs to.
Enter the URLs
Under Website or Sitemap URLs, enter one public HTTP or HTTPS URL per line, up to 24. A single connection can cover at most 8 website origins.
Set the Source Type and Refresh Schedule
Confirm the Source Type (Website, Sitemap, Documentation or URL List) and choose a Refresh Schedule: Daily, Weekly or Manual Only.
Choose Visibility
- Public: safe to use in scripts.
- Internal: informs private business knowledge but stays out of public scripts.
Only choose Public for material that's safe to use in scripts.
Limit the pages (optional)
Under Limit the pages to import, add Include Paths (one path prefix per line, for example /docs/) or Exclude Paths (for example /blog/tag/). Leave Include Paths blank for the whole site.
Click Import and Keep Updated
FoxCue saves the connection and starts importing.
Manage connections
Open Sources → Connections to see every connection, its status and its next check.
- View a connection to see its pages and settings.
- Sync now to refresh immediately.
- Pause connection / Resume connection. A paused connection shows Resume to Sync.
- Edit the schedule or paths and click Save settings.
Refreshes save progress in the connection. Opening Sources doesn't start a crawl on its own. If you've edited a page by hand, a refresh keeps your edits. Open the source to review it.
What gets imported
- Public HTML pages and XML sitemaps.
- Each page becomes a source with immutable revisions, so citations point at the exact text a script used.
- Not supported: PDFs, DOCX files, scanned images (OCR) and docs that need a login.
- There's no total page limit per connection. FoxCue checks pages in small batches (12 at a time by default), and one sync keeps going until every in-scope page is checked. Each sitemap file can list up to 50,000 pages.
- Scheduled refreshes only run while your FoxCue server is running.
Troubleshooting
- "The website crawler is unavailable." The crawler service isn't configured on your FoxCue server. Ask your administrator, or add pages as Text or File in the meantime.
- Few pages imported. Large sites import in batches. Check the connection's progress, or click Sync now. Narrow it with Include Paths so the pages you need come first.
- A page shows old text. Click Sync now. If you edited the source by hand, your edit is preserved. Review it in the source's history.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn help docs into video scripts?
Connect your docs site here as Documentation, then create a script for that brand. FoxCue retrieves the most relevant passages (up to 12 per script, within a size budget) and cites them. See Create a video script.
Can FoxCue read my Zendesk, Intercom or Notion help center?
Yes, if the help center is public HTML. FoxCue doesn't connect to those apps directly, and pages behind a login can't be read.
How often are sources refreshed?
Daily, weekly or only when you click Sync now, depending on the Refresh Schedule.
