Research Topics from Reddit and Blogs (Beta)
Beta: use Research in FoxCue Sources to collect Reddit discussions and blog topics in collections, group posts with AI and generate scripts from them.
Research in Knowledge → Sources collects material for video ideas. Reddit Research gathers posts from subreddits you choose into a collection. Blog and Topic Research does the same with topic collections. You can then turn the best posts into scripts.
Beta
Reddit and blog research is in beta. Labels and behaviour may change. It's a manual research tool: FoxCue doesn't monitor Reddit or send alerts.
When to use it
Use research when you want video ideas from real customer questions, such as threads in your market's subreddits or posts on blogs you follow. Use Sources instead for the docs and pages your scripts should cite.
Set up a Reddit collection
Open Reddit Research
Go to Knowledge → Sources, open the Research tab and click Open Reddit Research. You'll see Reddit Collections, grouped by brand.
Create a collection
Click New collection. Enter a Name (for example Launch posts), pick the brand under Project, and add a Description. You'll see Collection created.
Add subreddits
In the collection, open Subreddits and click Add Subreddit. Enter the Subreddit Name (for example SaaS) and choose a Sort: Hot, New or Rising.
Scrape posts
In Reddit Feed, choose the Subreddits to Scrape (or Reset (all active)) and click Scrape Now. FoxCue opens Reddit in a background browser session, which can take 30–60 seconds.
Review posts
- Search the feed, or filter by All Subreddits, Status and Used in Script.
- Add one post with Add a Reddit Post by URL.
- Set each post's status: New — Still to Review, Used — Made a Script from It or Ignored — Not Relevant.
- Open a post to read it, refresh its comments, or open it on Reddit.
Group posts into topics
Open Topic Groups to collect similar posts. Click Group with AI to let AI match posts to your topics, or create a New Topic Group with a name and a one-sentence definition and add posts yourself.
Make a script
In the feed, open a post's row actions and choose Generate script, or open the post and click Generate Script from This. You can also generate a script from a topic group. The script opens in the editor like any other. See Create a video script.
Blog and topic research
- Open Knowledge → Sources → Research and click Open Blogs and Topics.
- Click New topic to create a topic collection with a source URL or a brief.
- Open the topic. Under Source, use Source Actions to fetch the page, then click Generate Script. With no source URL, FoxCue generates from the brief only.
To keep a blog's pages updated automatically, connect its sitemap in Sources → Connections. See Connect a website, docs or sitemap.
Troubleshooting
- Scrape failed. Reddit didn't respond in time, or the background browser session isn't available on your server. Try again later, or add posts one at a time with Add a Reddit Post by URL.
- No posts. Add at least one subreddit, then click Scrape Now.
