Narrated Slide Videos with AI Voice-Over

Turn a FoxCue script's slides into a narrated video: pick an ElevenLabs or OpenAI voice, set resolution, frame rate and transitions, then render.

A narrated video turns your script's slides into a video with an AI voice reading the script, so you don't need to record yourself. Open the script's Video tab, choose a voice, and click Create Narrated Video.

Before you start

  • Save the script first.
  • Generate slides. If there are none, you'll see Slides required: click Create Slides. See Slides.

Create a narrated video

Open the Video tab

In the script editor, open Video. Under Narrated Video, FoxCue explains: create slides from your script, then choose a voice.

Choose a voice

Under Voice · who narrates, pick a Provider and a Voice. Click Browse Voices to play the same sample line in each voice, then Use This Voice.

Set the look and output

Under Look & output · how it renders, set the options in the table below.

Render

Click Create Narrated Video. A progress dialog shows the render. You can close it at any time: rendering keeps going in the background. You can also Pause, Resume or Stop it.

Review and download

The video appears under Finished videos in the Video tab. Click Download MP4, download the audio or the transcript, or share it.

OpenAIAdd Delivery instructions (for example: Confident, warm explainer voice. Clear and steady. Natural pacing, no rush.)

ElevenLabs and OpenAI each need a provider key on the server. If a key isn't set up, that provider shows as unavailable. FoxCue picks ElevenLabs first when it's available, otherwise OpenAI.

Running FoxCue yourself on an Apple Silicon Mac? You can also use Kokoro (local · free), a voice that runs on the Mac itself. It isn't available on other computers.

If HyperFrames isn't installed on the server, it shows not installed. If your script has section clips, the built-in engine is used.

Manage versions

Each render is a new version under Finished videos:

  • Re-render with this version's settings repeats a render with the same settings.
  • Trash moves a version to the trash, and Restore brings it back.
  • Render New Narrated Version makes another with new settings.

Troubleshooting

  • "Slides required." Generate slides before rendering or re-rendering.
  • "Provider unavailable." That voice provider isn't set up on your server. Choose another.
  • "Couldn't preview the voice." The provider didn't respond. Try another voice or provider.
  • "Partial export." The master video saved, but an optional output didn't. Review it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a video without recording myself?

Yes. A narrated video uses an AI voice over your slides. No camera is needed.

Which AI voice should I use for YouTube?

Preview voices with Browse Voices and the same sample line. Choose a clear, steady voice at 1080p and 30 fps for most YouTube how-to videos.

Is there a local voice option?

Only if you run FoxCue yourself on an Apple Silicon Mac. There you can use Kokoro, which runs on the Mac with no per-call provider fee. Elsewhere, use ElevenLabs or OpenAI.
